What does it do?

Forward-facing fixed speed camera. Unlike the Gatso, it photographs the front of the vehicle, capturing the driver. Uses piezo sensors embedded in the road surface to measure speed rather than radar.

Documented capabilities

Measures vehicle speed using piezoelectric strips in the road. Captures forward-facing photograph showing the driver's face and front number plate. Can operate with infrared flash to avoid dazzling drivers. Some versions can monitor multiple lanes simultaneously.

Operator

Local police forces and partnerships

Where it is used

Fixed installations, often in urban areas. Look for cut lines in the road surface (the piezo strips) and a camera unit facing oncoming traffic. Painted yellow.
